Nuremberg

A full day to spend in Nuremberg.  We started with a guided tour beginning at the grand castle, the 15th century Kaiserburg on the top of the hill overlooking the medieval Aldstadt Old Town.  The city is surrounded by massivee walls and boasts an abundance of 15-16th century art and architecture.

The picturesque Alstadt is easy to walk around.  In the middle of the square is the Church of Our Lady where you can see figures of the Holy Roman emperor and his prince electors move on the mechanical clock.  Near the Rathaus is one of the oldest churches in the city with the shirne of Saint Sebaldus.

We chose to stay in town for lunch and we went to a traditional Bavarian outdoor café and we had Nurembergs own Bavarian sausage, small finger sized sausages with lashings of mustard, sauerkraut and potato salad.

We did not go to the museums and parade grounds of WW2 because we have actually been to Nuremberg before and we went to the Documentation Centre and the Zepplin fields then.
