Oxford

We stayed in the little village of Iffley about 2 miles from Oxford. It was an easy walk into Oxford along the tow path which was lined with narrow boats and out on the river students were practising their rowing in various sized row boats.

We booked a city and university walking tour with the tourist office.  The tour took 2 1/2 hours.  We went into Trinity College.  We saw the courtyards, the dining hall and the chapel.

We learnt all about life as a student at Oxford.  What I hadn't realised is there are no lectures, students are self taught.  They meet with a tutor once a week at the home of the tutor.  There is only one exam which is held at the end of their 3 years.

The Bodium Library is in 4 buildings and there is also underground storage.  There is over 600 miles of shelf space in tunnels underground.

Wow I remember Ron saying that but I thought he was just saying they had to be self motivated I didn't realise he was being literal!
