Road to Rome Florence

Florence, capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, is home to many masterpieces of Renaissance art and architecture.
One of its most iconic sights is the Duomo, a cathedral with a terracotta-tiled dome engineered by Brunelleschi and a bell tower by Giotto. The Galleria dell'Accademia displays Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture. The Uffizi Gallery exhibits Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus” and da Vinci’s “Annunciation.”

Art, Architecture and shopping.  Florence is famous for jewelry and leather goods.  You can find many gold jewelery shops on the Ponte Vecchio.  There are many shops around the various squares in Florence where you can purchase leather jackets, shoes and handbags.

It is a shoppers paradise.  We did a walking tour of the old town and the many piazzas and squares and of course the Duomo.
