Road to Rome - more Venice

We had three days staying in Venice.  There were gondola rides and water taxi rides on the Grand Canal and a trip to Murano and Burano Islands.

We did a walking tour with local guide.  A lady in eighties who is as fit as a fiddle, lots of fun and very entertaining.

She took us to hidden laneways, piazzas and secret little gardens dotted around Venice that we wouldnt have found on our own.

After her tour we made our way to the Rialto Bridge and afterwards walked back to our hotel but not without getting lost several times and having to ask directions.  Every little lane and every  bridge look the same.  A map is of no use at all.  Near the name of the street is often an arrow pointing you in the direction of something significant such as St Marks Square.  It took us a while to find an arrow for St Mark's Square but once we found it we were soon on our way there and then is it was an easy few minutes walk back to the hotel.
