Colin wanted to go up Mount Snowdon on the rack rail train.  The day we chose to do it wasn't the best.  We woke up to drizzly rain but as it was our only chance to go up we decided to do it anyway and we drove to Llanberis, pronounced Clanberis, the station where the train departs.

We bought our tickets and our seats turned out to be the best of the lot.  Right in the front carriage, sitting right behind the guard so we had a panoramic view out of the window.  As the train set off the sun began to shine weakly through the clouds and it cleared up.  The ride up takes a little over an hour.  The views of the hills and valleys was very picturesque.  Sheep grazed lazily alongside the rail and sometimes on it.  Walkers waved to us from the rocky path.

We reached the summit, just as the cloud rolled in and completely obscured our view.  We walked through the station building and out to the steps that lead up to the summit and it began to rain.  We quickly took some photos and headed back to the train.  The return journey was completely obscured by rain and cloud and we saw nothing at all.  The guard told us how lucky we were to have such a great view on the way up as most people go up there in the cloud and come back in the cloud.
