After the Cinque Terre we continued along the coast and stopped overnight in Genoa.  Very interesting port.
Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa.  Built by very rich merchants it has some amazing architecture.  Beautiful palaces and buildings.  The old town is very pretty with it's now winding streets with soft limestone paving.  It has a busy shipping port and marina for yachts and other pleasure boats.
