We were told about a religious festival that was happening in the village of Lavanto on our first night so we went along to have a look.  There were hundreds of people there in the parade.  All dressed in costume.  There were bands, men tossing and whirling flags high in the air and big burly men carrying these gigantic crosses of Jesus on the Cross.  They wore a type of weightlifters belt to strap the cross to themselves and swapped many times during the procession with other membrs of their group.  It was an exciting spectacle.
