From Genoa we travelled to Cote d'Azur.  We spent 2 nights in Monaco, Nice and Cannes.  Monaco is very interesting.  They have 325 days of sunshine a year.  It rains only between March and April.  The water temperature never falls below 23 degrees.  It is a lovely clean tiny country.  There is one policeman for every 60 residents who are paid very high wages to fight non existent crime.

Monte Carlo is interesting.  In the middle there is the Casino, a beautiful grand old building with an outdoor terrace with magnificent views of the gigantic yachts in the harbour.

In front of the Casino the flash cars rev their engines and seem to do circuits of the streets.  Out to be seen.  Ferrari's, Rolls Royce, Masserati.  Anything you can think of.  It's all there.  People parading up and down the Gucci, Armani etc lined streets.  It's all very amusing, very superficial.

The parks and gardens are beautiful.  There is a lovely cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier married and are now buried.  We watched the changing of the guard and afterwards the Palace was opened up to visitors and we went through.  That was very interesting but the rooms where much smaller than I expected.
