After visiting relatives in Zurich we caught a train to Paris and then connected with the Eurostar which took us back to St Pancras station London.
We stayed overnight in London and the following morning we picked up a hire car from a nearby depot and set off for Cambridgeshire to visit relatives.
We spent a few days there doing day trips to places such as the nearby town of Ely and visited Ely Cathedral, called the ship of the Fens. So called because the fens are so flat and you can see the Cathedral for miles and miles, like a ship in the distance.
We went to the seaside, a place called Walton-on-the-Naze which is a rather weird name.
We also visited some lovely gardens. The Beth Chatto gardens. Beth Chatto is now a woman in her nineties and has won prestigious prizes at the Chelsea Flower show many times. The gardens were really beautiful. The gravel garden pictured below reminds me a lot of many gardens in Australia. It receives no water. The plants get only rain water.
