Montreaux to Lucerne

We checked out of the hotel and walked across the road to the train station to board the Golden Pass train to Lucerne via Interlaken.

We were in the first carriage of the train which had a panoramic window at the front where the train driver would normally sit, so you got the train drivers view.  The driver sits in a cabin above this panoramic window.

It costs more to sit there but from where we were sitting we could see out of that window anyway.  It was a great view.

Any seat has a great view, so there is no real advantage to paying extra money, you get a ultra modern panoramic view anyway.

From Montreaux  our unforgettable journey of 2 hours took us along the shores of crystal clear lakes, we passed no less than 5 lakes, past romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brunig mountain pass and past many picturesque villages with the quintessential swiss chalets with their windowboxes brimming with colourful floral displays.  Beautiful green pastures with cows grazing and wearing giant cow bells, vineyards and also very close to the snow capped alps.
